Summary: So, like in the 'Forgotten portrait' ending. Garry has fell alseep. The difference is that Mary isn't either killed or left the world. Ib has went out of the Fabricated world.
A/N: I don't ship Mary/Garry over Ib/Garry and I hate Ib/Mary, but I loved to write this.
He was sleeping, but he could think all he wanted. Annoying. When you are sleeping, your thoughts should just go somewhere and be whatever.
But he couldn't stop thinking.
After falling asleep, his all thoughts have included either Ib or Mary. Did Ib get out of this world? Where Mary went? Did Mary took petails of from his rose? Is Ib happy and safe now?
All he could do was thinking.
He didn't know how much time went.
And then, one day, he opened his eyes.
First Garry saw just darkness, since his eyes were closed. The little by little he started feeling. Wall behind his back, floor under him, jacket he have on. And then, finally, rose in his hand.
Garry opened his eyes. First thing he watched was his hand. And there it was, his blue rose, every single petails on.
"Are you awake?" voice called in front of him.
Garry raised his head to see blond girl in front of him. Mary.
First he almost panicked, thinking all horrible things girl had done, but then new though hit his head: why she was even here? She should be outside this world with Ib.
"Why are you here? I thought you would leave." Garry said after founding his voice.
"I wanted, but I couldn't. I spend too much time to find that painting and I found it right before Ib went in. After it frames came back and I couldn't go trought anymore." Girl sighed.
Garry looked at her. She haven't changed even little bit.
"How much time had went since I fell asleep?"
Now Mary looked straight into his eyes. "I don't know. Much. Ib have visited gallery often, i can hear her voice throught the painting. She have grown up, what? Many years."
Garry wovered. Many years? Just how much can one person sleep at once?
"You haven't changed." He said instead asking.
"Of course I haven't. Time goes on here as well, but it's different. People doesn't grew older. But time still goes. If you enter to this world and then go back to real world, you haven't aged at all." Mary explaned, even thought bit garbedly.
"And you said you have heard Ib's voice?"
Mary smiled, but smile was bit sad. "People who have visit this world, and people who are talking with them at the moment, are heard through paintings what are connecting these words. But just from there to here, no other way around."
"Last question for now: Why I have my rose?" Garry looked at the blue rose in his hand.
"After I took petails off and failed to go back, I came back here so I could grew up new rose from the dead one. That way you could wake up and I wouldn't be alone." Mary put her hands around her legs and lied her chin on her knees. Garry thought about it for a moment and it sounded logical: Mary have always wanted company, and since Ib went to real world back, Garry was only other person here.
"Okay. I'm thankful you woke me up, sleeping was horrible. I wasn't even exactly 'sleeping', I couldn't do anything else than thinking. Thank you."
Blonde girl blushed bit and smiled. Those two never got along too well, one reason was lack of time they had together before Garry get to know that she was painting. Other was Ib. Mary liked Ib better and so did Garry. That build wall between those two. But, now, when Ib was gone and there wasn't anyone else around, company didn't sound too bad.
"Could we visit gallery? I like to hear Ib's voice too."
Mary nodded and they stood up and made their way to the gallery.
How long they waited before hearing Ib's voice next time? I don't know. As Mary said, time gpes differently there. But when they heard it, it was clear that Ib had grew older.
"I feel bit weird when I look at this painting... 'Fabricated world'. What a strange name."
"To me, it is just weird painting. Come on, Ib, we need to go, teacher said we should be at front gates at 15...'And every fifth graders should be here at 15', remember?"
"Okay, I'm coming..."
That was what Garry heard with Mary. Both were sitting and leaning to the wall under painting when they heard that.
"Do you see?" Mary asked. "You are lucky that she came so fast after you woke up. I needed to wait much longer after she went out of here, and you waited only three days."
That was also first time those two spoke after Garry woke up.
He nodded. "She have grew two years... Just how long I have slept." Then he smiled sad smile. "But at least she sounds well being and happy. Like she never visited this place."
"She doesn't remember this place, that is true. She doesn't remember us." Mary tightened her grib around her legs.
"Maybe it is better that she doesn't remember anything than if she would remember. It would make her sad." Garry said. Of course he was sad too that Ib have forgot, but he tried to be positive.
"Maybe that is true." Mary stood up. "Well, since you heard her voice, should we go around a bit?"
Garry wavered. "To where? We will get killed or something. What we even need here?"
Mary smiled. "It is true that you don't need to eat to stay alive here... But I thought it would be wise since now you are staying here. There is much places I never could go since my powers are limited, but most of the 'monsters', how you call them, leave me alone if I don't disturb them. And with you, I got to see more places where I couldn't go alone" She turned her head to look at Garry. "Come on Garry, let's go! There is so much waiting us~" Girl laughed and started halfly walk, halfly bob.
Garry sighed but smiled and went after Mary.
It was interesting trip. There was still much of those things what didn't leave them alone, much of those dangerous rooms where they came nearly killed. Since Ib was calm one, trip was also full of screaming, running and panicking. But also talking and laughing. They get to know each others better: Mary liked drawing and dancing, and also Garry liked drawing, even thought dancing wasn't his thing. He liked also paint and read, when Mary didn't really enjoy reading. They found lot of stuff, many rooms where was lot of books, also they found paper to draw and Mary had pencils and paintbrush from the past. They decided to camp inside the gallery, since it was both semi nice and safe unlike most of the places. They took some of the books and papers so they would have something to do and went back. That is how first days started: exploring and making place to stay.
"You are reeeaalllly good Garry!" Mary said once watching man to draw over his shoulder.
"It is just lot of drawing and I also had some friends who teached trick or two." Garry smiled. Hearing compliments made him feel good.
"I have never been good at drawing" Mary purse up er mouth. "Could you teach me?" She said now full of enthusiasm. Garry laughed and they started drawing together.
One other time Garry asked from Mary when they were drawing:
"I have been thinking... Was it true that you wasn't fast enough to get out of here?"
Blonde girl freezed. Thn she looked down to her drawing. It was beautiful, she have progress much after Garry teached her.
"No. I was there in time, right after Ib. Frames were still away and I could have gone... But then i thought about you and you would be here alone forever... I was here so long alone, and it is really hard." Mary started swing while sitting. "I didn't want to do same to you, so I came back to save you."
Garry didn't know how to feel about this. "Well, I'm thankful. Really. If you hadn't come back, who knows, I would have been trapped inside my head forever." He moved next to teh girl and hugged her. "Thank you."
Mary seemed little surprised but soon she smiled and hugged Garry back.
Sometime after that, bit after Ib had once again visited the gallery, when they were again lostening while she spook there.
"Mary... I have been wondering, how old you are?"
Mary turned her head to watch Garry from the painting. She looked little unsure. "I'm not sure... I hav been guessing that it would be something between 9 and 14. It can be older or youger too, but... Guertena didn't really leave any information about me expect my name."
Garry nodded. It made sense. Mary turned her head again to watch the painting and they listened when Ib went away.
Once when they were exploring again, trying to find new places and things to use, they came to dark room, where was old gramophone. Mary jumped excited.
"Now we can have music!" She runned towards gramophone.
"But we don't have any discs... Or what you then use with gramophone." Garry walked after girl.
Mary laughed. "In here, we don't need anything for gramophone to work! I found one once, and it worked without... You just put it on!" Mary looked gramophone for a moment before realizing how t put it on. Classical music filled the room.
"It... It is beautiful." Garry said. Music was really beautiful, but unlike some other music he have heard there it was normal. Mary smirked and started dancing. She was actually very good, and she haven't even been teached or anything. Garry looked at girl while she smiled and danced.
"Come on Garry, dance too!"
"No, I'm not good at dancing... But you are really good." Mary laughed.
"I have always loved dancing, I don't know why. Wait a second, I even know some actual dances..." She went to the gramophone and did something, Garry wasn't sure what, and then there came some music what fit salsa. Mary started dancing. Garry had to admit, she was really good. Not many person could look good and enjoyable while dancing salsa. After awhile they decided to drag gramophone to the gallery so Mary could use it any times she wanted. Coming there everytime would be too hard since it was pretty far apart from the gallery, behind very nasty surprises and way.
Maybe the worst day was when they came to the dollroom, to the room Garry failed to get out soon enough.
"This room looks familiar..." Then he turned pale. Door locked behind them, and Garry knew even before turning around that there would raed 'Let's play a little more. Who, who has the key?'.
"I hate this room... I shoud have remembered. Big blue never liked me." Mary was pale too and started to check dolls panic and worry growing inside her. Garry went to the other side of the room ans started to check dolls too when lights went out and that blue monster started slowly come up inside the painting.
"Where the key is?!?" Garry started to panic, still checking dolls. This was bad, he have failed finding the key once, and that time he went crazy, lost himself before Ib and Mary came.
"Nonononononononono" Now Mary was ready to panic too. She had once came inside this room and made it barely away. Monster came out when she sprinted out back then. She semi liked little blue dolls, but big blue was scary. It was dangerous.
"Here!" Garry shouted. He jumped up and looked quikly at the frames. Monster was halfly out already. He took Mary and sprinted out, Mary running right behind him, keeping his hand so she wouldn't fall behind. After many minutes they finally stopped running and fell down, two heavily breathing mess.
"That- was scary." Mary was pale. Usually she could deal with things here, but that room was too much.
"Last time I failed... It was even scarier this time." Garry was nearly fainted. He hated that room.
"Are you okay?" He asked after awhile.
"Yes i think... You?"
"Good... Me too." Garry stood finally up. "We should get going, can you walk? Staying here won't do anything."
"Yes, I c- Auts." Mary looked her own foot. She didn't notice it earlier, she had been too shocked and scared, but there was bleeding wound. She thought it for a moment and then remembered hurting it inside the dollroom.
"Show me. Oh, that looks bad... We should go back, that needs threat." Garry picked smaller girl up and carried her back to the gallery.
"What are you painting Garry?" Mary said one day when they were just relaxing at the gallery. She tried to sneak a look on it, but Garry just smiled and turned it away so she wouldn't see.
"You see soon." He said and continued. After nearly hour he finally finished it. He have done it many days, so Mary was really curious. She came quikly and looked at the painting.
Mary didn't know what to say. Painting was very beautiful. Colors and style were amazing, made the painting look more like photo. Photo of Mary.
Garry painted much, and he made many works of three of them, sometimes some quikly works of just one of them. This was first time he had made so much work for painting of her.
"It- It is so beautiful." Mary couldn't help but stare. She was dancing in the painting wearing maybe the most pretty dress she ever seen. She was dancing inside big hall, and behind her there was shapes of people watching her dancing. She smiled at the painting. Everything at the painting was perfect, lights, shadows, every singe body part and clothes. It looked just so real.
Mary started crying. This was first time after Guertena paintig her when someone has used so much time and effort of the painting of her.
"Do you like it?" Garry asked quietly behind her.
"I love it!" Mary turned around and hugged Garry tightly. "Thank you."
Them there was this one time when they were exploring at the new side of the Fabricated world. Garry and Mary were investitating room, when Garry opened wrong door. Big, black, ugly and unreal tarantula came out and made Garry scream and running for his dear life. Mary was little further away when she saw Garry's problem. Tarantula was faster than Garry and was slowly cathing him.
"Oh, I don't think so!" Mary yelled and ran towars tarantula. She took sword she found little earlier, and raised it ready. Garry saw what she was about to do and right before her he kneeled down. Mary jumped, took speed from Garry's back and hit the sword inside tarantula almost entirely. Tarantula stopped and Mary took sword out and hit it again and again inside until the tarantula was no longer moving.
Garry was freezed behind her. He knew she could do many things, but this, he never guessed. Mary turned to face him. "Are you okay?" came from both mouths what made them laugh.
Finally Garry stood up. "We should check that room quikly and then we could perhaps move this big guy inside again... Just in case. We should leave the sword also, if someone comes here they have also proper weapon against it." It was dark side of things there: they didn't die completely. They would always come back. Mary nodded and went inside the room. There was just couple skeletons and much spiderweb. "Nothing" she said and they moved tarantula inside and locked the door.
That was how their life went on. Then one day they were at gallery and heard Ib again. Both ran in front of the painting what was gate ones, and stopped to listen.
"This is the painting... I always feel strange when I watch it. It has been, what, seven years when i saw it first time."
Garry wovered. Seven years?
"That is strange... But I suppose the painting is strange. What it tries to show? 'Fabricated world'. Well, even name is strange." Some boy spook with Ib. Mary and Garry held their breaths.
"Not just that, I almost feel like... I have forgot something." Ib sounded confused.
"Don't worry Ib, you make such a scared face... No worries, what you even should have forget? And even if you have, I'm here right besides you."
Ib laughed. "Yes you are." Then there was this voice of... kissing? Mary and Garry were there, freezing, when Ib finally left. Neither one knew what to say
Then Mary took little derisively voice. "'This is the painting... I always feel strange when i watch it. It has been, what, seven years when I saw it first time?"' While talking Mary walked slowly besides the painting, her actions showing little bit of gibe.
Garry laughed and moved next to her, throwing himself in the play. "That is strange... But I suppose the painting is strange. What it tries to show? 'Fabricated world'. Well, even name is strange."' he said with playful voice.
'"Not just that, I almost feel like... I have forgot something."' Mary rolled her eyes while saying it, since they were what she forgot.
'"Don't worry Ib, you make such a scared face... No worries, what you even should have forget? And even if you have, I'm here right besides you."' Garry said and made fake comfortting voice.
Mary laughed bit, stage laugh. '"Yes you are."' Then girl got up on her toes, reached up and kissed Garry. It was only short kiss, he didn't even have time to react. After Mary pulled back, she turned around and started walking away.
"Wha- What you did?" Garry said with confused voice. He have blushed pretty radically.
"We were imitating them, right?" Mary's voice was calm and didn't show any embrasment or nervousness, but her neck had turned red.
